what do you think?

27 06 2008

This morning I read a newspaper and saw that the closure of Thai border had brought difficulty to the people nearby Phrea Vihea temple. Becasue people there depend entirely on Thai product and so after the gate closed they will face the lack of daily supplies. I heard one authority said that they will request the donor to support people in that area, but why should we request from the other nations, why we, Cambodian people help our Cambodians? I think of fundraising to help people there but I don’t know where to start, any ideas?

I think the action should be taken so that Cambodian will not be threatened! That’s so sad to hear about this issue…

can’t they gain access to Khmer products? How far are they from Khmer markets or other provinces?

I understand that being close to Thai border meant that the people do alot of tradings with the Thais but we should not have rely so heavily on Thai products. I know that many people do not support Khmer products because they think that the quality aren’t as good as those produced in Thailand. But I strongly believe that if we have our own products we should use and support them. By using our own produce/products we are supporting the growth of our economy.

The official is looking to ask for international support but paoun Ramana is correct, we should first look locally for assistance. Khmer should help Khmer. The first thing that come to my head was to bring daily necessities from areas close by to the people that are living near Preah Vihear temple. Daily necessities would include medicine, rice, salt, sugar, vegies, meat, toiletries etc…these are the things that we Khmer should be capable of making or grow in our own backyards or transfer from other provinces/town in Cambodia. If our government is capable it should be able to organise and/or provide those things to the people until things re the closing or opening of the border is sorted. Members of the community could also help by donating food & medicine (but keep in mind that donation is only a temporary solution).

bong, i don no much about the situation there but i think the place might be very far from the town that people there cannot get access to our products or mayb there no our products available. Road condition bad, so it might be harder for them to travel.

I think so unless the government don’t want to
